I love unusual places. In the same way the cementeries were my favourite playground during my childhood, when I was in my teens, when I saw a derelicted area, I wanted to wander around it.
I started taking pictures 30 years ago. And then came the painting.
After my first exhibition about the boat cemeery in the 'Atelier Bleterie' in la Rochelle, I was lucky to be offered a personal workshop. So, it's in this painting workshop I worked on this second subject. These forsaken places. This abandoned spaces that I crosse over my wanderings I like for their volume, their light, their stories...
I paint mainly big canvas - unfortunatly the storage and dimension of my workshop - doesn't allow me to use very big canvas. So they are in a maximum 80 M (146 x 89cm) - format which allow to retranscribe these spaces feelings.
Even for the boats graveyards, I privilege the canvas made of linen, they are perfect for the nostalgic places ambience. The technique is mainly acrylic , retouched with Indian Ink. Here again, my painting workshop doesn't allow me to use materials as cement of tar. My last works are mainly in sepia colors, monochromatic, in line of a serie of monotype that I realized.
